1XW - Invicto dog - 2:25
Three weeks into his conditioning, he got into some uncured raw hide and we weren\'t sure if it would have any effect on him but we condition a substitute dog, just in case. We continued to condition Caesar, giving him extra supplements and deworming him.He was acting normal but his gums were really pale and he lacked enormous stamina. One week before the show, I found out that the substitute dog is doing worse, so I stuck with Caesar. At the weigh-in, his opponent came in over 2 lb, and it looked like I dodged a bullet but that day we had two shows and we lost the first one, so we ultimately decided to go for it, to make up for the lost because Caesar\'s was still a great dog.He was doing good until the 1hr mark, then his illness began to show. At one point, the previous handler that beat us pointed out how sick Caesar was (that mucus was secreting from his genital). During his second scratch, the same team announced a bet that Caesar won\'t scratch, because Caesar was "litterally" laying flat on the ground whenever he ran out of stamina. We took that bet as soon as we heard it and made an easy buck. Whenever Caesar would "lay down", he always had a hold of his opponent, and every time he caught a quick wind, he would punish his opponent. He did this through out the rest of the show after the 1hr mark. At the 2hr mark the other team was aggressively advising their handler to not let the dogs break because they knew their\'s wouldn\'t scratch. The show dragged on for another 25min and I finally got a hold of Caesar and it was their turn to scratch and he didn\'t move a muscle. Caesar courtesy all the way to the other corner only to be stopped by the other handler with one hand - that\'s how tired Caesar was.Six weeks earlier, at the lock-in, the ref. asked if we wanted a morning show or an evening show just in case the show lasted for 3hr. The other handler said "It won\'t last 3hr, trust me (with a grin on his face)". The show was 2:25.
