This
pedigree has been posted to shed light on the controversy surrounding the CH
Glenn vs Johnny. We’ve spoken to over a dozen seasoned dogmen that were there.
Yes, it’s true CH Glenn stood on all fours at :33. However, the controversy
arises from the circumstances that led up to that. Below are facts that everyone we spoke to
agree upon. Glenn came in 8 oz over and Johnny 4 oz under. RBK paid the
forfeit; then Cornerhouse said they were going home. RBK & Cornerhouse
agreed that RBK put up an additional $1000 and the show was back on. Both dogs
were then washed and pitted without incident. At the start of the show, the
only lighting was a string of lights above the box that ran diagonally from
corner-to-corner (scratch-line to scratch-line). They were released; it took a moment
for them to get going. Glenn jumped on the muzzle and a turn was called on
Johnny early. At :08 the 1st handle was made, Johnny to go. As soon
as the dogs reached the corner, the ref began yelling at Johnny’s corner, one
of their team members reached over and grabbed the sponge. RBK’s corner
immediately began yelling along with the ref and asked for a foul. The ref
asked RBK if they really wanted to win that way. The show continued. Johnny ran
a looping scratch. RBK sent their corner man back over to Johnny’s corner (he
had been pushed out once already), upon arriving in the corner he was forced
out again. At this point Johnny’s team began complaining about the lights being
ran in the direction of the scratch and said they were in Johnny’s eyes. The
ref agreed to allow the lights to be redirected to run across the middle of the
box from wall-to-wall, not corner-to-corner. RBK immediately rejected this, they
said the lights must remain how they are because that is how they started out.
Nonetheless, the ref approved the change. A handle was made, Glenn ran with no
hesitation. Around :16 the 3rd handle was made, Johnny to go. Both
corners were completely dark and nothing could be seen by the ref in either
corner. Johnny was released and ran to an opposite corner, not in the direction
of Glenn. RBK was screaming “do not release him” meaning Glenn; the handler
still let him go. Glenn was still way ahead. From this point forward, Glenn
began spitting out face-holds and grabbing Johnny’s legs and stifle. Both dogs
began looking like total crap from here on out. Neither would stay in hold.
From the 3rd scratch till now there were numerous missed handles by
both handlers. Both dogs wrestled but would not take hold numerous times. Glenn
stayed ahead the entire show, when around 28 minutes Johnny got a good elbow
hold and Glenn began screaming. At :33 a handled was made, Glenn to go, there
were no signs of stopping in the corner; upon release, Glenn took 2 steps,
stopped and began shaking his head vigorously, as if he just got out of water.
He never took another step. Johnny the winner. A couple days later, RBK
received a private phone call, the man claimed he was with Johnny’s team, and
wanted to tell RBK what really went down. He admitted that they had rubbed
Johnny during the show. He told RBK that the first attempt was during the 1st
scratch, the reached for the sponge to pour the rub on it so it can be put all
over Johnny’s body. He was unsuccessful because the ref caught him touching the
sponge (the show should have been over at this point, anyone other than the
handler & ref touching a sponge is a foulable offense). Then, strategically
they complained about the lights to ensure their corner would be dark for their
next attempt. The caller told RBK that the rub was successful during the 3rd
scratch, the same man who reached down for the sponge on the 1st scratch,
poured the rub in his hands, reached over and rubbed it all over Johnny’s face,
in fact getting it in Johnny’s eyes. This is when Johnny ran to the opposite
corner. Whatever they put on him, caused him to be disoriented. As stated
above, from this point forward, both dogs looked like crap and would not stay
in hold to the point of spitting out good holds and wrestling while out of
hold. There is no argument that Glenn stood; however, a foreign substance being
put on a dog during a show can cause one to do strange things. In light of all
this, we do not consider Glenn a cur. Now, with the game being post-SDJ-era;
there is no governing body to rule on these types of situations. We only post
this account of facts to make everyone aware on what really went down. We do
not consider it a win for Johnny or a loss for Glenn. RBK did what they thought
was right with Glenn during the moment; or we would have requested a toxicology
report. Either way, by the accounts of many seasoned dogmen, something very
strange took place that night; Glenn was ahead by all accounts until the last
3-5 minutes and definitely stood on top.; something very uncharacteristic for
him. You be the judge.
